New Installation At Durham Mixed Use Development
Citrus Durham has completed a deal with Tesla UK to install 19 new Superchargers at the £400m mixed-use Integra 61 development at J61 of the A1(M). Citrus Durham was advised by retained joint roadside agents Colliers and Avison Young.
With 60,000+ Superchargers, Tesla owns and operates the largest global, fast charging network in the world, of which over 1,700 are installed in the UK, actively contributing to less fossil fuel usage across the UK. The new EV charging points at Integra 61 will be Tesla’s V4 Superchargers, recently launched and designed with a longer charging cable to be universally compatible with all EVs as well as Tesla vehicles.
Planned to open between February and March 2025, the Tesla Superchargers represent the best in electric vehicle charging from the global leader.
Charging all electric vehicles at 250kW speeds, customers can charge up to 180 miles in just 15 minutes, meaning drivers can spend more time driving and less time charging. With a 99% uptime on all its Superchargers, Tesla operates the most reliable fast charging network in the UK. The V4 Superchargers installed at Integra 61 feature a contactless card payment system, meaning customers can simply tap-to-pay their contactless card and plug in their vehicle to begin charging. Tesla vehicle owners will only need to plug in their vehicle to start charging with automatic billing.
The new Superchargers will sit alongside the already hugely successful roadside element of the Integra 61 scheme and complement the existing roadside offering of KFC, Greggs and Costa Coffee drive-thru units. There is also further strong interest in the remaining plots for a variety of uses including other drive-thru operators, trade-counter units and self-storage as well as a range of retail hospitality uses.
Integra 61 is the largest employment-led mixed use scheme seen in the North East in a generation and is home to Amazon’s 2 million sq ft Fulfilment Centre which is fully operational with over 1,000 employees on site. A further 640,000 sq ft of speculative logistics space in 5 units, known as Connect at Integra 61, has also completed on site. Serviced plots are available on the remainder of the site to accommodate a wide range of unit sizes to suit occupier-specific requirements.
The 205 acre site will create over 3,000 jobs when completed and add £2 billion to the regional economy over 10 years.
Bellway’s 91-unit housing development (Clarence Gate) is well advanced, delivering a mix of modern three and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes at the northern sector of the scheme. This will add to the 170 houses already delivered by Persimmon, known as Millbeck Grange.
David Cullingford, Head of Development at Citrus, said:
“We are delighted to add to our roadside offering with these fantastic new Superchargers. They will make EV charging more convenient for those working and living here and make the site even more attractive to new occupiers.”
