Works have commenced on a new £4 million petrol filling station with a separate convenience store and Starbuck’s drive-thru at Citrus Durham’s £400m mixed-use Integra 61 development after planning permission was granted by Durham County Council.
This latest announcement follows a deal between Citrus Durham and leading petrol station, convenience retail including food services operator, EG On The Move (EGOTM), which owns and operates over 160 sites across the UK. The new additions at Integra 61 will create approximately 70 jobs for the local area.
Located just 200 metres from J61 of the A1(M), Integra 61 is an ideal site for the EGOTM operation with an immediate well-placed network of local residential communities and users of the wider nearby road network all of whom will be able to take advantage of the easy accessibility and convenience amenities on offer. With work now underway on site, the new EGOTM should be open for business this year.
The roadside offering at Integra 61 will see the new EGOTM sit alongside existing drive-thru units for Greggs and Costa Coffee as well as a site intended for a new KFC drive-thru. There is also access for visitors to the scheme to 19 Tesla Superchargers which opened last year.
David Cullingford, Head of Development at Citrus, said: “Since its inception, Integra 61 has attracted strong interest from a whole variety of occupiers and investors and our roster of occupiers will be enhanced even further by the addition of this new EGOTM scheme. With its wide range of high-quality amenities and strategic location, the scheme is a ground-breaking development in the North East, attracting high-profile occupiers and a significant amount of not only local visitors but also those travelling through the county each day on the A1(M).”
Peta Pank, Acquisitions Manager, EG On The Move, said: “We are delighted that construction has now begun on our development at Integra 61. This represents an excellent opportunity to bring our best-in-class PFS offer to the site, alongside our Starbucks drive-thru. We look forward to trading alongside the existing food and beverage operators, as well as those yet to join, helping to further strengthen this area of Integra 61’s appeal as a popular roadside destination.”
Integra 61 is a logistics-led mixed use scheme spanning 205 acres at J61 of the A1(M) and is home to Amazon’s 2 million sq ft Fulfilment Centre, with over 1,000 employees on site. A further 640,000 sq ft of speculative logistics space in 5 units, known as Connect at Integra 61, has completed on site. Serviced plots are available on the remainder of the site to accommodate a wide range of unit sizes to suit occupier-specific requirements.
