Occupier Q&A: Costa Coffee Drive-Thru

We caught up with one of our roadside occupiers, Costa Coffee here at Integra 61 (which is one of the highest performing outlets in Roadchef’s northern portfolio) to find out how business is going four years on from opening.

  1. Since the Costa Coffee drive-thru opened at Integra 61, have you seen a significant amount of footfall during that time and how popular has it been?

Having opened during the Covid pandemic our store has maintained a strong performance. The location not only attracts local traffic – many of whom are based at Integra 61 – but due to the proximity of the A1(M) and our Main Service Area we also attract many customers from much further afield.

  1. How do your out-of-town locations compare footfall-wise to town centre locations and does any part of their offerings change?

Whilst Roadchef locations are typically situated along motorways and trunk roads, we’ve observed and seen through feedback from our retail brand partners that out-of-town locations often see high levels of footfall and are performing strongly as consumer behaviours and the UK retail landscape continues to change.

  1. What is it like being part of a scheme like Integra 61?

The ongoing development at Integra 61 has continually brought new customers into the area – as the development grows and expands over time it is likely to be a good thing for our business as well.

  1. The roadside element of Integra 61 offers a prime location and easy access to the A1, have you found that this has helped bring customers to the Costa drive-thru and what else makes the roadside location appealing?

The prime roadside location significantly boosts our visibility and convenience for passing traffic. Easy access from the A1(M) ensures we attract both local commuters and long-distance travellers.
